| Chapter 101 Activities |
There's a lot you can participate in with
Chapter 101. You don't have to own a airplane,
be a pilot, or build a airplane. If you enjoy
aviation and want to be around others that
enjoy the same, then get involved with Chapter
101.
Monthly Meetings
Each month 101 members get together at Schaumburg
airport to review what's going on the chapter.
After getting everyone up to speed, the program
features a new aviation related subject.
You'll learn anything from building skills
to survival skills to aviation history.
After the meeting enjoy coffee and treats.
Guests are always welcome, so click Here to find out about our next meeting.
Young Eagles Flights
Here's your chance to introduce the wonderful
world of flight to a new generation. Young
people age 8 - 17 will receive free airplane
rides donated by Chapter 101 pilots. After
the flight, every Young Eagle receives a
certificate and is entered into the 'World's
Largest Log Book' maintained at the EAA Air
Adventure Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Click
Here to find out about upcoming Young Eagles
rallies.
Builder's Nights
Builder's Nights are held once a month
and
afford the opportunity to view members
airplanes
during the construction process, learn
building
techniques and gather expert information
pertaining to building, restoring and
maintaining
airplanes.
Social Events
Several times a year member families get
together to enjoy each other's company. Always
with an aviation theme we'll gather for 101
Social Events.
- Annual Chapter Banquet - Held in March, it's
a fun-filled evening capped off with entertainment
provided by our own members.
- Family Night - Held in place of the June
meeting program, enjoy a potluck supper as
well as a chance to visit with your fellow
101ers and take home some nice door prizes.
- Annual Family Picnic - Our annual picnic
is held in August and features great
food,
games and prizes, airplane rides
and fun
for everyone.
- Annual Chapter Christmas Party - Celebrate
the holidays with Chapter 101 members.
Good
food, entertainment, prizes and conversation.
Remember, Santa's a Pilot too.
Chapter Chicks
The women of Chapter 101 meet each month
to craft decorations for all our chapter
events and have developed a line of aviation-themed
decorative objects, which they sell at various
events. Proceeds from sales fund the Chapter
101 Scholarship Program.
AirVenture Oshkosh - Convention & Air
Show
Chapter members support the EAA Fly-in Convention
(AirVenture) held in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
By volunteering in the 'Work Party' members
help setup for the show and during the show
some members participate by volunteering
support for various areas and tasks.
Chapter 101 members are eligible to stay
in the bunkhouse or 101 campgrounds during
the 'Work Party'. For the Show, there's no
better spot than the 101 campgrounds, which
are located about as close as you can get
to the front gate.
On Saturday evening during the show, you
won't want to miss the 101 Oshkosh Brat-Spectacular.
Great food, music, prizes and lots of talk
about airplanes.
Fly-Aways
If you're looking for adventure, Fly-Aways
are the ticket. Hook up with members and
experience flying day trips to interesting
places - aviation museums, unusual restaurants,
etc. |
